What is this?
This is a site where I publish information and sales figures for my iPad game Finger Eaters, and if sales go over certain numbers, new features will be implemented in the game.
Follow the detailed sales figures, and read about the development.
I’m an employed software developer, and this is not my main source of income. I don’t expect it to be. I made this game on my free time because I had an idea and I wanted to finish it. In the process I had to cut some features to be able to release the game. In my mind, the game is complete and I do not plan to update it. However, if the game proves to be popular I will do my best to create more content to the game as a thank you to all the players, my customers. I don’t think that this is an altogether uncommon approach to app development.
The different approach I have to this is that I have made that process public. Do not expect me to release an update as soon as the counter hits a target. These things takes time, and as I said before, this is done solely on free time. I’m not the type of developer who write code all day during work, and then go home to code some more through the night. I have way too many other interests in life for that.
I really have no idea if the numbers that I have set as targets are pessimistic, realistic or optimistic. If I hit any of the targets I will be overjoyed. There are so many apps now on the App Store that Finger Eaters might not break a hundred (most likely). Or the game or this site will go viral and you will see monster plushies, stickers, key rings, and other merch everywhere (no, you won’t).
The features listed right now are the ones that I cut out of the game, and that I think will work within the structure of the game. If you have suggestions for other features, feel free to post a comment below, but I’m focusing on these as I have most of the assets for them.
I will not do any in app purchases stuff as I’m not a fan of those. The only exception is if I implement new game modes. Then I might make the app itself free, and put the new one(s) behind a new pay wall, but only if I can let all previously playing customers through the pay wall for free. No one will pay more than $0.99 or equivalent for the whole game.
